About Oxbow

ABOUT OXBOW

An “oxbow” is the distinctive, U-shaped bend formed as a meandering river transforms the landscape over hundreds of thousands of years. True to its namesake, Oxbow jewelry draws inspiration from the intricate patterns and processes that form and transform our natural world—from the organic curves and shapes of the Southwest, where I live and work, to the coastal landscape of the Lowcountry, where my family lives.

Oxbow is a jewelry line that both appreciates and challenges classic styles, translating organic, everyday, and extraterrestrial concepts into one-of-a-kind jewelry that is refined and playful.

Every piece of jewelry is imagined and designed in the foothills of the Sangre De Cristo mountains, in Taos, New Mexico, and fabricated in Oxbow's Denver, Colorado studio.

ABOUT MAGGIE

After studying Geology and Studio Art at Vanderbilt University, I was drawn out west by the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. The Southwest is rich with jewelry artists and educators who inspired me to continue my studies. I learned under goldsmith and master wax carver, KathyPritchett, and engraver, Matthew Tuggle, and studied at the New Approach School with Blaine Lewis.

I find great joy in the slow, methodical art of working with my hands, and learning and adapting metal smithing techniques based on ancient art forms. Through jewelry making, I translate my love of art, the physical sciences, and nature into wearable objects, designed to inspire, delight, and hold special meaning.

Natural and creative transformation are at the core of my work: Forging and forming refined creations from raw materials, carving lost wax pieces, repurposing antique and secondhand fine jewelry to create modern heirlooms.
